BMW launches electric X2 SUV in 2024

BMW has officially unveiled its latest innovation, the electric X2 SUV, equipped with a robust 64.8kWh battery pack, promising a claimed range spanning from 417 to 449 kilometers. Renowned for pioneering the coupe SUV concept in the premium compact segment, the BMW X2 returns with its second generation, boasting a notably larger frame and sporting a distinctive coupe silhouette, a trait equally discernible in its fully electric counterpart, the iX2 variant.

Scheduled for market debut in March 2024, the rollout will feature the all-electric iX2 xDrive30 alongside the high-performance X2 M35i xDrive model, complemented by a petrol alternative and a diesel counterpart. Further expanding the lineup later in the year, a secondary fully electric iteration and an additional diesel variant will join the ranks.

Amidst its enhanced stature, the new BMW X2 exhibits considerable growth, stretching an additional 194mm in length compared to its predecessor, now measuring at 4,554mm, widening by 21mm to 1,845mm in width, and towering 64mm higher at 1,590mm. Offering a generous cargo capacity ranging from 560 to 1,470 liters, contingent upon the model variant, the iX2 presents a cargo space varying between 525 and 1,400 liters.

Underneath its sleek exterior, the iX2 houses two integrated drive units, distributed between the front and rear axles, collectively generating a robust system output of 313bhp, inclusive of temporary boost, coupled with a formidable torque of 494Nm. Demonstrating impressive performance metrics, the iX2 xDrive30 accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in a mere 5.6 seconds, achieving a maximum speed of 180kmph. Bolstered by its 64.8 kWh battery capacity, the iX2 showcases a claimed range of 417 to 449 kilometers as per the WLTP cycle.
